I'd like to start with Mirror's Edge from 2008. The atmosphere, the controls, the non-violent approach, the music, I loved every single bit of it! Wonderful game!

If we're going retro, here's a remarkable one from my youth!
Captain Tsubasa II
Who would have thought a simple 8-bit NES could pull this kind of graphics and animation???
Let's not forget the music, which was amazing as well!

Yeah, totalyl agree, I once wrote a Cannon Fodder clone a long time ago on PC, but lost the source code years ago. I'd love to rewrite something like that again. I'd probably need other people to do the graphics though as I suck at drawing.
I did manage to get the mouse controls working just like the original cannon fodder though which took a lot of effort and time!
