Hello there. After launching catapult, I'd like to make another one. I was going for the platformer, but I find myself addicted to this little game: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sk.flashdev.android.moonlanderSo I'd like to do something similar. At the moment I only have a very basic prototype: The idea is that you control an UFO and you have to rescue your friends, wich are lost somewhere in the level, and one by one, take them to your ship to complete the level. The ufo is controlled by tilting the device to adjust the rotation and pressing a button to fly. I think this one could be easy to make, and is an addictive concept. What do you think?

Great idea! I've almost forgot this genre! I've spent countless hours playing Ugh! back in the day... Best of luck for you!

Almost no free time during last week, but some progress is done:
The basic mechanics are there: you fly to an alien, get him and take him back to the platform. I find these lander games addictive, I think this one can be a fun game to play.

Yeah, Catapult is addictive! Added a lot of cool stuff:
Some hud, with life and fuel, and an aliens left indicator. Added also boxes, rotating objects, explosions...

This looks great, this along with Catapult gives you some really nice looking games. Does box2D make it much easier to write these sort of games?

Box2D is awesome! I think it's better to have a little background of physics and algebra, as you have to apply forces, impulses, torques... but you have great tutorials over the net, like in www.iforce2d.net/b2dtut/ BTW, I have updates: I think have added everything a level can have... also added particles, effects...

Yeah, it's a very basic libGDX particle effect. Just changing values until you get the effect you want in the particle editor ( get it here), and it's only a few lines of code to implement, look at the particles example. You just initialize and load the effect, and draw is as simple as smoke.SetPosition(UFO.x,UFO.y) smoke.Draw2(spriteBatch,delta) Particles are great and very easy to implement!

Yeah, now it looks like a real game, with menus, level selection, Ufo shop... there are 6 different UFOs with different properties. I still have to add powerups, more backgrounds and levels and find the music that fits the style (I've tried a lot of songs but I don't find the correct one!)
